Topsoil: Retail $28.90 per cubic yard (covered)
Indiana Mulch's Pulverized / Screened brown Topsoil supply comes from the farm lands of south west Marion County along the White River. Topsoil is formed by the weathering of rocks and subsequent addition of organic matter from decaying plants, animals and mosses. Since Topsoil will harden it is primarily used for lawns, regrading, and foundation back fill. The process of screening topsoil involves working the soil over or through a large mesh or screen to sieve stones and lumps out of the soil. This process also acts to aerate the soil. Pulverized means to pound, crush or grind to a powder. You can visit one of Indiana Mulch locations to pick up (1/2 cubic yard minimum) or have it delivered to your home or business in 7 (single axle truck), 12 (tandem axle truck) or 15 (tri-axle truck) cubic yard increments. Topsoil weighs approximately 2200 pounds per cubic yard.

Peat Moss: Retail $39.00 per cubic yard
Indiana Mulch's Peat Moss is obtained from the bogs of Northern Indiana and is a vegetable matter that over millions of years that has laid under water in swampy areas or bogs, and has decayed. It differs from other soils because it retains a fibous texture. Peat Moss is good for soil amendments and helps loosen clay. You can visit one of Indiana Mulch locations to pick up (1/2 cubic yard minimum) or have it delivered to your home, business or community garden. Peat Moss weighs approximately 1500 pounds (dry) per cubic yard.
Black Dirt: Retail $39.00 per cubic yard
Indiana Mulch's Black Dirt contains organic plant material that has broken down into small particles and is also obtained from the bogs of Northern Indiana. These bits of organic material improves the texture of heavy soils by breaking up the clay to allow water to drain and to add water retention properties to sandy soil. The bits of organic material create air pockets in the soil that increase air circulation needed for strong root formation. It provides optimum condition for the survival of beneficial insects and burrowing worms that also work to provide aeration and prevent the soil from becoming compacted. Since Black Dirt is much lighter than Topsoil, it will need to be tilled into existing soil to prevent the Black Dirt from blowing or washing away. You can visit one of the Indiana Mulch locations to pick up (1/2 cubic yard minimum) or have it delivered to your home, business or community garden. Black Dirt weighs approximately 1500 pounds (dry) per cubic yard.
Mushroom Compost: Retail $41.00 per cubic yard Indiana Mulch's rich Mushroom Compost comes from Pennsylvania where it is the growing medium that results from commercial mushroom growing. The totally organic Mushroom Compost is made from agricultural materials such as wheat straw, peat moss, cottonseed meal, cottonseed hulls, corncobs, cocoa bean shells, gypsum, lime, chicken litter and/or horse stable bedding. Following production of mushrooms the compost is cooked off at 160 degrees for 10 hours to kill undesirable pest and is usually free from weed seeds. Mushroom Compost has high water and nutrient holding capacity and exhibits no nitrogen draw down problems. When used properly, Mushroom Compost can improve plant growth in poor or marginal soils. This is because Mushroom Compost amended into poor soil will improve the structure, reduce surface crusting / compaction and therefore improve drainage, increase beneficial soil microbial activity and provide nutrients to plants which can reduce the need for fertilizer. You can visit one of the Indiana Mulch locations to pick up (1/2 cubic yard minimum) or have it delivered to your home, business or community garden. Mushroom Compost approximately weighs 1500 pounds (dry) per cubic yard.
